About us:
Our Purpose: To foster the interest of students in the dairy cattle industry and provide them with guidance and opportunities within the industry. Club members will utilize this knowledge in professional and academic capacities, opening opportunities for community outreach and industry networking.
The Clemson University Dairy Science Club gathers people with different backgrounds, but a similar interest in an effort to build friendships while being actively devoted to all aspects of the dairy industry. The Dairy Science Club has two different sections (club and show team) that allow students to build knowledge of the dairy industry, have a hands on experience with dairy cattle, promote the club, and attend events while maintaining lifelong friendships.
Club Events
Promotional Events: Every year at the beginning of the semester the Clemson Dairy Science Club participates in on campus events to recruit incoming freshman and other upperclassmen interested in the dairy industry. These events include Tiger Prowl, CAFLS BBQ, and CAFL's Tailgate.
Fundraisers: Fundraisers are an important way for the club to raise money in order to attend events such as ADSA, Dairy Challenge, local dairy shows and tours as well as provide for monthly meetings. Our large fundraising events include selling doughnuts to students and faculty, designing yearly shirts to sell to the public as well as other merchandise. One of the largest fundraising events the club hosted was a Chick-Fil-A day where the club brought a calf to help raise money and provide guests with an interactive experience!
Social Events: Although most of what we do is working hard to train heifers and promote the club, we also strive to create a fun environment for members and establish friendships that will last a lifetime. We have paint nights, TCBY night, and our annual faculty breakfast where members make the faculty breakfast and get to connect with the faculty within the department.
Show Team
Show team allows students to halter break and show a heifer at three different shows throughout the school year to gain a hands on experience with dairy cattle. Two of the three shows the team attends are held locally at the Garrison Arena at the Anderson County Livestock Show. The biggest event of the year is attending the South Carolina State Fair in the fall where students can not only show their heifers but also are given the chance to enjoy the food and fun the fair has to offer!
